What is the purpose of the Annual Review?
Annual reviews take place every year to review the Boards performance over the past year. They are an opportunity to look at the challenges and developments that the Board have faced, as well as to clearly set out actions and key focuses for the coming year and beyond.
Every other year the Annual Review is chaired by a Scottish Government Minister, who holds the Board to account for the plans that we have said we would do and the services that we have provided.
This year the Annual Review is a Ministerial Review. The review programme will be chaired by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Care, Angela Constance MSP. This will Include the public session, where members of the public are invited to attend and to ask the Board questions.
How can I take part?
People can join the public session at 3pm until 4pm, in the following ways.
A recording of the public session will be available on the NHS Highland website, after the meeting has taken place.

Questions need to be provided in advance for people who want to join the session online. The closing date for questions is Friday 16th of October 2026.
Why do I need to register to attend the event
Registering for the event helps us to make preparations in advance. For example making sure there is enough room for everyone who wants to attend and arrangements are in place for those who need additional support.
It also means we can share the link to the online meeting with participants.
Why submit questions in advance?
Submitting questions in advance means that there is time to pull information together in order for the Minister, or NHS Highland executive to give a meaningful answer.
Questions can be asked at the event for those who are attending in person, however they may not be answered in full at the session, due to the lack of preparation time.
Full responses to all questions will be available on the NHS Highland website following the session.
People viewing the meeting online need to submit their question in advance, before the closing date of Friday 16th of October.
