Community feedback helps shape new project for young people

We are pleased to share another important project which will be supported from the Theresa Burall Legacy Fund.
NHS Highland Charity has awarded £106,500 to the Building Community Spaces project, which will create more opportunities for young people aged 12 to 18 to access mental health and wellbeing support within their own communities.
Working with schools, health services and local organisations, the project will use green spaces, outdoor learning and creative activities to help young people feel more confident, less isolated and better supported. It will begin with pupils at Kingussie High School before expanding across Badenoch and Strathspey, with up to 144 young people expected to take part over two years.
Mental health support was one of the priorities identified through the Burall Legacy Fund community engagement. Young people, families and local partners also told us about the need for more support in schools, more youth work opportunities and better support for neurodivergent young people.
Thank you again to everyone who shared their views. Your feedback continues to help shape how Theresa Burall’s generous legacy is used to improve health and wellbeing across Badenoch and Strathspey.
